Movie Etiquette
I like to think that I don't have these annoying rules for things that people do.
For Example: You come to home, keep your shoes on or kick 'em off. I could care less. Do what you feel more comfortable with. Some people actually care whether you have them on or off. Ok, maybe that's not the best example, but I'm getting to my point.
Movies are one of those public activities where I think people should simply know how to act. I paid $11 to watch this thing and the glare of your phone in my eye for 2+ hours is NOT something that I paid for nor do I enjoy. And it's not only when I pay for a movie and people are rude does it bother me. It's also when I sit down with a friend to watch a movie that they haven't seen and they are constantly checking their phone/iPod/computer that ticks me off. I'm not watching this movie for my benefit. I've already seen it. I'm watching it with you mostly to watch your reaction.
And I hate it when the person has not been paying attention and then they ask you a question about what just happened. No, I'm not going to tell you. You should have been watching. And by me telling you what just happened I am therefore talking over what is happening now, which you are then missing, and it just puts the whole mood off for me. Also, when people put their attention elsewhere, it makes me feel like they're not interested in watching the movie and only agreed to watch it to humor me. It makes me feel like the movie has to be extra good to hold their attention and also like they don't value my opinion.
Ugh. I probably shouldn't be so annoyed with this, but I am so people will just have to deal with. I'm probably over-thinking this, but whatever. It's just the mood I'm in tonight.
